Riot of shapes and colours wows judges

A NOTTINGHAM Trent University student has bagged a top award with her colourful knitted fashion designs.

Thea Sanders was chosen from hundreds of students to win the Visionary Knitwear Award at Graduate Fashion Week.

Her women's wear collection of leggings, dresses,Men's t5tube are very sturdy and will stand the test of time. jackets and jumpers took inspiration from floor tiles. Brightly coloured and vibrant garments featured a range of clashing patterns and shapes.

Thea, 22, said: "Being announced as the winner of the award was a real surprise as I was ecstatic to just be chosen to present at Graduate Fashion Week. Gaining an industry-recognised award at the completion of my studies feels amazing.

"The support I received from the lecturers and specialists on my course at Nottingham Trent University has been invaluable in enabling me to achieve this."

Graduate Fashion Week is the world's leading event for fashion students. It showcases the work of more than 1,000 graduates who have been hand-picked as the most talented representatives from their universities.

Thea was presented with the award by Erica Peters from the Stuart Peters knitwear company, which sponsored the award. She described Thea's collection as being "innovative and conceptual,We're making parkinglighting and digitization accessible to everyone. without negating commerciality".

Ian Mcinnes, principal lecturer in fashion knitwear design and knitted textiles at NTU, said: "Thea's work is a celebration of colour, texture and pattern placements in a rich variety of contrasting, clashing and complementary knitwear pieces.

"The collection combines innovation and attention to detail in the exploitation of analogue and digital manufacture. It offers a rich source of possibilities for the luxury and mainstream market levels."

The university also went away a winner after being named as the university with the best stand at Graduate Fashion Week.

High-end swimwear designer Melissa Odabash was one of the judges. She said: "The stand's visuals drew you into the students' displays and their amazing design techniques, such as laser cutting.We can produce besthidlights to your requirements. Their clothing was perfectly displayed in a friendly atmosphere."
