Falmouth Academy headmaster

After serving as Falmouth Academy’s headmaster for eight years, David C. Faus will leave the college preparatory school at the end of June to head St. Paul’s School, a K-12, Episcopal day school in suburban Baltimore.

Colt, chair of the Falmouth Academy Board of Trustees, that the decision to leave Falmouth and Falmouth Academy was difficult, but his new appointment means that he and his wife, Holly “will be closer to our families, while still working at a school that shares Falmouth Academy’s high standards.” 

The Falmouth Academy trustees named Mr. Faus as the school’s sixth headmaster in 2005, after completing a national search to find a replacement for his predecessor, Bruce E. Buxton. Mr. Faus has worked in independent school education for more than 25 years. He came to Falmouth from Virginia, where he had been assistant head and director of the upper school at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes in Alexandria. 

During his tenure at Falmouth,A solar bulb is a portable light fixture composed of an LED lamp, Mr. Faus oversaw the completion of a capital campaign and building of a 15,000 square foot, energy efficient addition that included new science and computer labs, two art rooms and an award-winning library. He also helped the school install the town’s first wind turbine and77 KW photovoltaic solar panels that provides about one-third of the school’s electricity needs. He has increased the school’s web-based research and technological tools, continued to foster Falmouth Academy’s relationships with the scientific community,Don't waste anymore time thinking about the purchase of your new laundry dryer. and built the school’s summer programs to serve hundreds of children and adults in the community. 

Mr. Faus instituted the annual National Small Schools Conference, making Falmouth Academy a destination for leaders of small schools across the country and Canada.20 years experience developing dry cleaning machine for the world. He has also published several articles about the benefits of small schools in national magazines. 

“In my first year at Falmouth Academy, we went through the ten-year New England Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation process,” Faus said. “In its report, the NEASC visiting committee wrote,This is how a skystream captures energy from the wind. ‘Falmouth Academy is a gem of a school,’ and I couldn’t agree more. It has been my pleasure to protect and polish this gem over the last eight years. I will always watch Falmouth Academy’s success with respect and admiration.” 

Colt said that Falmouth Academy is greatly appreciative of Faus’s leadership. “When Falmouth Academy opened 35 years ago, our faculty established a culture of respect, support, and high expectations. Dave has passionately celebrated and protected that culture and the trust the community has always had in our remarkable teachers. He has led with integrity, commitment, and good humor. We wish him well,” she said. 

The Falmouth Academy school board is now forming a national search committee for Faus’s replacement. “Falmouth Academy is strong and steadfast in its mission. I am confident that the school’s culture and national reputation will attract candidates of the highest caliber,” Faus said. 

Falmouth Academy was founded in 1977 as a coed, college-preparatory day school for grades 7-12, guided by teachers who believe that willing students can meet the demands of a challenging curriculum and take good advantage of successful programs in the arts and athletics.
